Full-figured BEAUTY!
I saw the name of this group and HAD to join! I'm a full-figured doll, who is also a makeup artist. LOVE e.l.f. and am excited to get started with a discussion in this group.

I have a question off topic, but also one that I have been wanting to ask for quite some time. Many of my friends (peers, colleagues) still purchase high-end designer cosmetics like Stila and Smashbox, and of course I have used those same brands for years, as well. I discovered e.l.f. a couple of years ago and have slowly added to my collection now using e.l.f. almost exclusively. When I have mentioned to my designer-using pals about e.l.f.'s $3 bronzer they kind of laugh and tell me it's junk. Have any of you had a similar experience with your friends who prefer to pay for a brand instead of quality? I have found the quality of most e.l.f. products to be on par with Stila and Smashbox with the exception of just a few items in the line. How have you gone about converting your friends from the expensive designer labels to e.l.f.?

Nice to meet y'all! I'm Alexandra from Atlanta, Georgia!

Do the high end brands do animal testing? If so, that might sway some of your friends who are environmentally conscious. Some people just like the idea that they are paying high prices for name brand cosmetics...its a status thing. I had a similar experience at work not long ago...one of my co workers was talking to another co worker about her Coach purse. I kinda mumbled under my breath, "it's just a purse!" They both heard me and took offense. I don't understand the status thing that comes with buying high end products. Why pay for a name?? My purse does the same thing that her Coach purse does. My elf eyeshadows do the same thing that the higher priced MAC shadows do. Why pay more?

I love Bare Escentuals mineral makeup, so I was ecstatic when I discovered that E.L.F. has a mineral makeup line. It's less than a third of the price and provides the same great coverage. I used to buy Smashbox, but with two kids now and my husband having the only income due to a back problem I have, I can no longer afford to purchase their products, which really aren't all that high quality. I love E.L.F., and in the rare circumstance I don't like a product I've purchased, I'm only out a couple of dollars, as opposed to a small fortune!
